Our classes are generally taught by our employees; typically, those who've been working at the store for at least four months, though we do occasionally have guest instructors come in to teach. The classes are each conceived and developed by the teacher; occasionally, one teacher will take over a class from another, but usually the instruction booklets and class samples are owned by the teacher in question. Therefore, some classes may not be offered quite as often; it depends on that teacher's schedule, so if you see a class you like, sign up as soon as possible! They do fill up quickly.

Classes are grouped by category above, but here they are listed by teacher, in case you have a favorite instructor and want to see what else she may be teaching!

As our intrepid manager, Ashlea dabbles in a little bit of everything: crochet, wire-work, seed beading -- you name it, she's probably done it. She worked at one of our Houston stores for years before migrating to Austin, so she's a long-time Nomad and general jewelry expert!

Astra generally sticks to wire-work and chainmail (though she's finally dipped her toe into the seed bead end of the pool), having had experience working for fine jewelers like Anthony Nak. She feels those materials are more "forgiving" than seed-beading, since it's generally a little easier to fix your mistakes!

Danielle has been a Nomad off and on for years -- the beads just keep pulling her back in, y'see! While she dabbles in crochet and knotting work, metals and wire seem to be her preferred medium, and she's constantly coming up with new ways to bend them to her will! The best part is, she can show you how to do that, too!

Kim regularly teaches Beginning Jewelry Assembly, in which she describes herself as a "drill sergeant" of beading (but a very nice one!) She's also our resident knotting expert, and knows a heck of a lot about wire-work, too. In fact, there isn't a whole lot she doesn't know, having been here at Nomadic the longest. We were lucky enough to catch Kim in a rare photo, because like the birds she studies, she's a bit camera-shy!
