A deposit is required to guarantee your space in a class. All payments are refundable in full, for cancellations made up to one week before class. There will be no refunds/roll-overs for cancellations made by a student after the cut-off date. Please notify us if someone else will be filling in for you. It's the student's responsibility to remember the class time. We appreciate your cooperation in abiding by these guidelines.

Please make reservations at least one week in advance.

Z Bead provides students with the basic tools to use in class but supplies need to be purchased by the student.

A full refund plus a coupon good for a one-time store discount will be given for any class cancelled by Z Bead. Class make-up is at the teacher's discretion.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are held for one to two persons seeking individual help. The rate is $35 an hour, with a minimum of two hours. We hold private lessons at our store, before or after store hours.Call today to schedule your private lesson: 713-526-2216

General Beading

Back to Basics Beadstringing*

Join us for this one-night class to learn to repair that broken piece of jewelry or make something for the first time.  See how to use different types of clasps and bead boards.  Instruction will include an optional memory wire bracelet.  No beading experience necessary!

Bead Brunch
With the Z Bead Staff
Do you have a class project that you have never finished? Do you need a reminder for a technique you learned in one of our classes? Then a Sunday Bead Brunch is the perfect place for you to have a snack, hang out with other students, and bring that unfinished project to have one of our staff members help you out. Please bring your handout from your class if you need specific help. Bead Brunch is open and free to all current and former Z Bead students! Note: Bead brunch is expanding!  Due to popular demand, we are now having bead brunch twice a month for twice the fun!

Beginning Jewelry Assembly*

Learn the basics of jewelry assembly! Students will learn about the components and techniques of making earrings, bracelets, and necklaces in order to design and make their own creations. This is both a lecture and hands-on course.

Calculated Asymmetry Necklace** (NEW!)

Taught before as “Rational Chaos” at the Nomadic Notions in Austin, TX, this class is for beaders with some previous experience who want to step up their skill-set and increase their necklace-making repertoire ten-fold. Over two sessions, we will learn and execute a simple formula for creating random-looking and asymmetrical designs! This class is especially intended for those seeking to “think outside the box” without all the brain-wracking effort.

Charming Chandelier Earrings* (NEW!)

Findings and Finishings Workshop* (NEW!)

How do I know what type of stringing material to use and when?  When do I use a clamshell tip vs. a crimp bead?  What kinds of clasps are best for heavy beads, or light beads, or bracelets?  And just what does a crimping tool do?  This one-night lecture/workshop will answer all these burning questions and more.

Fun With Stretch Magic* (NEW!)

Stretch your creativity out and let your imagination take flight in this fun and easy class.  Students will learn the basics of using color, patterns, and different textures of beads to create an eye-catching bracelet and ring.  This is a great class for beginners or kids.

Intermediate Jewelry Assembly and Design** (NEW!)

Take your beading and design skills to a higher level in this three-session class.  Students will learn how to use French bouillon to create a professional and traditional ending for necklaces strung on silk, techniques for multi-strand necklaces, and how to end a multi-strand necklace with a cone.  Aspects of design including color, symmetry, texture, and weight will also be discussed in-depth as you create each project.  PrerequisiteBeginning Jewelry Assembly.

Lariat Techniques Workshop* (NEW!)

The lariat style necklace has done nothing but grow in popularity, largely due to its versatility.  In this workshop, we will discuss three ways to create a lariat using three totally different materials:  one with beadalon, one with chain, and one with leather or other cording.  Then, pick your favorite style and create your own fabulous lariat in class.  The possibilities are limitless!

Let’s Make Earrings*

Take your earring designs to not only the next level, but to outer space! This class will teach you how to create beautiful, sparkly, one of a kind, and very versatile earrings that are reminiscent of Saturn’s rings. Learn to wrap wire, Swarovski crystals, Czech seed beads, and Japanese delicas into gorgeous spirals that hang ever-so-elegantly off the ear.

Crochet Crafts

Crocheting with Wire** (NEW!)

Come learn the art of crocheting with wire.  On the first night, students will learn a simple but elegant chain stitch technique that incorporates sparkly beads for a fabulous, textural necklace.  The second night, we will expand by using slip stitches and beads to create a stunning cuff bracelet.  No crochet experience is necessary, but some knowledge of wire is helpful.

Fancy Crochet Lariat I*

Spiral Crochet Bangle Bracelet*** (NEW!)

Have you been waiting for a challenging class that integrates your needlecraft skills with your beading skills?  Spiral Crochet Bangle Bracelet is the class for you.  Learn to use size 6 seed beads and nylon thread to create a stunning crocheted spiral tube.  On the second night, various finishing and embellishment techniques will be taught.  Space in this class will be more limited than most, so sign up early.  Prerequisite:  Fancy Crochet Lariat OR previous crochet experience.

Fiber Decorated Headbands* (NEW!)

Fiber is very hot this year.  Join the trend by using decorative fibers, beads, and wire to create these unique headbands.  Make it elegant with Swarovski crystals and sparkly thread, or go funky and earthy with fuzzy, chunky fibers and natural stone or wood beads.

Wiber Art Beads* (NEW!)

Learn how to blend fun fibers and wire in this class inspired by the “wiber” beads in Lisa Vann’s Fiber-Wire Beads and Jewelry. By the end of the night you will have made tons of these fabulous and fuzzy (yet sturdy) beads to string together. Jennifer will also teach you how to turn them into a funky chain to showcase your wearable art.

Tin Cup Knotting*

Learn how to make the popular necklace that was in the movie Tin Cup.  Students will be taught how to perfectly knot and space between beads on silk or nylon thread by using tweezers.  This is a “project” class so the goal is for you to wear this one on the way home.

This style is so hot right now!  In this one night class you will learn to make a necklace by working with bound loops of wire instead of cord.  Use all the same beads or mix it up with many different shapes, sizes, colors or materials.
